# PATCH /api/v1/bills/upcoming/{upcoming_bill_id}

> Edit an upcoming bill

- **Tag:** bills
- **Operation ID:** `update_upcoming_bill`

## Description

Edits this occurrence only, not the whole series — so a one-month change to a recurring estimate does not redefine the schedule.

## Authentication

Bearer token in `Authorization` header.
Required header: `x-business-id: <business uuid>`.

## Parameters

- `upcoming_bill_id` (path, string, required)

## Request body

Schema: `UpcomingBillUpdateRequest`

- `vendor_id` (string)
- `vendor_name` (string)
- `description` (string)
- `estimated_amount` (integer)
- `expected_date` (string · date)
- `notes` (string)
- `status` (string) — Only expected/dismissed are settable. `converted` is set by the convert endpoint, which is the only path that creates a bill.
