Background Jobs
Large tasks such as categorizing thousands of transactions or building a month-end package run in the background so you can keep working. Background Jobs shows what is running, what just finished, and what failed, with a button to jump to the result.
Key capabilities
- In progress and Recent lists for the business you are working in, running jobs first
- Live progress for running jobs: a status message and a progress bar that update without reloading
- A status label on every job: Pending, Running, In progress, Completed, Success, Failed, or Cancelled
- How long ago each job started and how long it took
- The error message on failed or cancelled jobs
- An Open button on finished jobs and a View button on failed ones, which takes you to the page the work belongs to
- An activity icon in the sidebar footer and the Regent chat header showing how many jobs are running, with a dot when one finished since you last looked
- Jobs from the last 7 days, plus anything still running
How it works
You start something large, DayZero queues it and keeps working while you do other things, and the job moves from running to finished. When it ends, you get a marker on the activity icon and the job moves to Recent.

- Click the activity icon in the sidebar footer, or in the header of the Regent chat. A small window lists finished jobs.
- Click a finished job to open the conversation that started it. Jobs without a conversation open the full list.
- Click All jobs to open Background Jobs. Click Mark all seen to clear the dot.
- Watch the In progress section for live status. While jobs are running, the list refreshes by itself every few seconds.
- Under Recent, click Open on a completed job to go to the result, or View on a failed one to see where it came from and fix the problem.
- Click Refresh to reload the list on demand.
Pro tips
- The page has no sidebar link of its own. Reach it from the activity icon, which is hidden from the sidebar while the chat panel is open (it shows in the chat header instead).
- When a job fails, read the message on its row first; it says what went wrong.
- Keep working while a job runs. Jobs belong to the business, so teammates see the same list.
- Click View on a failed upload to go back to the page where you started it and try again.
- For a large categorization run, check In progress to confirm it is moving before you ask again.
